A hospital has opened a cutting-edge cardiac laboratory following a £500k renovation.

According to the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, its new Cardiac Catheter Laboratory included technology that was unique to the UK.

In order to diagnose and treat heart conditions, it was claimed that the "cath lab" was a specialized X-ray room.

According to the trust, the investment will guarantee that Guildford and Waverley continue to provide high-quality cardiac care.

More than 4,500 patients would undergo planned and emergency procedures in the lab each year, according to the statement.

The implantation of devices like pacemakers and implantable cardiovascular defibrillators, which treat people with irregular heart rhythms, would be among those.

The lab was temporarily housed in a unit inside the trust's main operating rooms for the duration of the 12-week renovation.

It is a "fantastic facility that will enhance the high level of specialized care we can provide," according to Trust Chief Executive Louise Stead.
