A new £24 million hospital care hub's opening-year design has been revealed in artist's renderings.

The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford will serve as the hub for day cases involving general surgery, ear, nose, and throat surgery, and breast surgery.

According to Dr. Steve McKew, it will allow the hospital to handle more day case surgeries and reduce waiting times.

The facility will include new recovery areas, patient consultation pods, and four contemporary theaters.

Additionally, maxillofacial, gynecological, and orthopaedic procedures will be supported by the two-story hub.

The new location aims to shorten day case procedure wait times.

Plans for the Princess Royal Hospital also call for the ongoing renovation of its main entrance and the construction this winter of new retail spaces for patients, guests, and staff.

Despite seasonal pressures, Dr. McKew stated that "day case procedures will be able to take place all year long, which is fantastic for our patients who won't have to wait as long for their operation.

"We can't wait to see our very first patients early next year. ".

The Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Trust has been contacted to learn why the site won't open as scheduled in the summer of 2023.
