After confessing to child sex crimes, a doctor was given a sentence of more than two years in prison.
Salman Siddiqi, 44, was detained after setting up a meeting with a young man he believed to be 14 on the premises of the Kent hospital where he worked.
He sent sexually explicit pictures of himself before the meeting, according to police inquiries.
There were "missed opportunities," according to the East Kent NHS Hospitals Trust, which acknowledged that Siddiqi had previously received a warning for indecent exposure.
Siddiqi, of Hornchurch, east London, struck up a conversation with a user whose online profile was a fictitious one in January.
The conversations, according to Kent Police, were "clearly sexual in nature" and contained references to "his desires to abuse a child.".
When he made the arrangement to meet them in the early hours of January 8 on the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother hospital in Margate, Siddiqi was aware of the child's age, according to police. He was detained right there.
At Folkestone Magistrates Court the next day, Siddiqi entered a guilty plea to trying to have sex with a child and trying to set up or facilitate having a child commit a sexual offense.
He was sentenced to two years, four months in prison on Friday at Canterbury Crown Court. He was also added to the list of sexual offenders and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust Chief Medical Officer Rebecca Martin stated that Siddiqi was immediately reported to the General Medical Council after the incident.
According to Ms. Martin, "Our review did not identify any patient involvement or flaws in our procedures that would have directly prevented this criminal offence.".
"There were missed opportunities to identify his prior caution," she continued, "and we've taken steps to make sure it won't happen again. ".
An NHS representative reaffirmed the "previous caution" regarding Siddiqi's detention for indecent exposure in a London park in June 2019.
Siddiqi made it very clear that he intended to commit very serious sexual offenses involving a young child, and the graphic detail he included in his messages was extremely concerning, according to DC Deniz Aslan of Kent Police's paedophile online investigation team.
"It is obvious that Siddiqi poses a risk to the public, and he now must deal with the fallout from his reprehensible desires.
